West Coast’s largest outdoor pet festival, PET-A-PALOOZA took place this past weekend (August 8th and 9th) in Victoria on over 35,000 sq ft of ocean front property. Last year’s attendance saw over 20,000 people accompanied by their canine companions and this year was just as exciting.
The weekend included events such as: Dock Dogs Canada, agility demos, cool down stations, photo lounges, a variety of pet rescues and approximately 85 of the leading pet related exhibitors.
Boundary Bay Veterinary Specialty Hospital hosted a booth at Pet-A-Palooza and we were amazed to see the constant flow of pet lovers throughout the weekend. Dogs of all shapes and sizes attended and we were thrilled to see so many friendly faces at our booth.
Alongside our staff was Bentley the Labrador Retriever who not only was our best greeter ever, but he joined in the Dock Dogs fun and came home with four medals!
We brought along with us 2 gift baskets (one dog and one cat) and on Sunday afternoon we had two very happy winners who came to pick up their baskets, each containing $100.00 worth of pet toys and treats.
We wanted to meet pet owners from the Island and help create awareness of veterinary specialty hospitals. We feel that it is important to share what we do in case our services are required in the future. Just like us, sometimes pets require a specialist.
Currently there are no veterinary neurologists available on Vancouver Island. If a pet is suffering with seizures or requires spinal surgery for a sudden paralysis, then a referral to a board-certified veterinary neurologist is crucial.
We also wanted to share that we offer a variety of orthopedic surgeries that are not available on the Island such as the Kyon Cementless Total Hip Replacement (THR) for dogs that suffer from hip dysplasia and the Patella Groove Replacement (PGR) for dogs suffering from patellar luxations.
We are extremely excited to be attending Pet-A-Palooza Vancouver in a couple of weeks (Sunday August 23rd) in Yaletown. At this event we will share our booth with the Animal Emergency Clinic of the Fraser Valley to help promote their blood donor program for dogs and cats.
We are looking forward to meeting more pet owners and their four-legged companions. We will have 2 more gift baskets to give away that day.
Pet-A-Palooza is pet friendly and it’s free so come say hello!
