BIO

Dr. Kristina Baucom has worked across the US in shelter medicine and general practice. She was moved by cases of animal cruelty she observed in practice and accepted a position as a forensic veterinarian examining victims of criminal animal cruelty with law enforcement. She traveled across the US on case work and provided training on recognizing and responding to animal cruelty for veterinary students, veterinarians, animal control officers, and law enforcement. While working with these patients she recognized the difficulty in treating their emotional injuries that accompanied their physical injuries. After seven years in forensic medicine, she started her residency in veterinary behavior at Ohio State University to learn how to better treat these patients’ significant anxiety and fear.

Dr. Baucom treats animal behavior disorders including, but not limited to, human-directed aggression, inter-pet aggression, separation anxiety, inappropriate elimination, fears, phobias, compulsive behaviors, and cognitive dysfunction. She is excited to meet you and your pet and provide a behavioral treatment plan to improve their quality of life. She also enjoys working with your pet’s entire care team to ensure the least stressful care and treatment of any health concerns that may be affecting their behavior.

When not working, Dr. Baucom can be found spending time with her 3 dogs outdoors or reading.
