Boundary Bay Veterinary Specialty Hospital’s veterinary cardiologist Dr. Mark Harmon was featured in West Coast Veterinarian with his article entitled “Interventions for congenital cardiac disease” about a female Landseer Newfoundland dog. Bea, when just a 16 week old puppy, had heart murmurs detected and was diagnosed with patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) and severe subaortic stenosis (SAS). Dr. Harmon and his wife ended up adopting Bea (renamed to Juneau) who lived with them for 10 years; leading a long, healthy life. She was also one of the reasons why Dr. Harmon decided to become a cardiologist.
