Let’s Celebrate RVT’s!

October 17th – 23rd is nationally recognized as Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) week. This is a time that we take every year to appreciate all that our RVTs contribute to BBVSH and the veterinary industry as a whole.

Julie, RVT

To become a Registered Veterinary Technician, these individuals have been accepted to, attend and graduate from an accredited RVT program. These programs cover a wide range of topics including: clinical techniques, anatomy, physiology, microbiology, pharmacology, anesthesiology, general nursing care, and even radiology. After graduation, they have to take a national exam (very similar to their human RN counterparts) to become a fully certified Registered Veterinary Technician – a title that is held in very high-esteem in the veterinary world.

RVTs Tara and Meghan

Even after becoming an official RVT, their learning and progression of skills never stops! RVT’s are required to maintain their currency with veterinary medicine techniques by earning what are called “CE Credits”, or “Continuing Education Credits”. This means that they are always building on their already well-educated foundation and skillset, making RVTs incredible assets to veterinary hospitals across the globe.

Please join us in celebrating these amazing humans and veterinary professionals!
