Each year, World Veterinary Day recognizes the essential role veterinary professionals play in advancing animal health and welfare. For 2025, the World Veterinary Association (WVA) has chosen a fitting theme:

This year’s theme celebrates the collaborative nature of veterinary medicine—and reflects exactly how we work every day at Boundary Bay Veterinary Specialty Hospital (BBVSH). Behind every diagnosis, surgery, or recovery is a team of highly trained professionals, each playing a critical role in delivering specialized care.
BBVSH: Collaboration at an Advanced Level of Care
At BBVSH, we know that patient outcomes improve when veterinary professionals work together. We’re proud to be one of only two hospitals in all of Canada to achieve Level 1 VECCS (Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society) Certification—a designation that reflects the highest standard of emergency and critical care.
This certification isn’t just about technology or infrastructure—it’s about people.
Our team includes:
- Board-certified specialists in critical care, surgery, internal medicine, cardiology, neurology, oncology, dentistry, and diagnostic imaging.
- Emergency veterinarians trained to manage complex and life-threatening emergencies and trauma, 24/7.
- Registered Veterinary Technologists (RVTs) who provide 24/7 hands-on patient care and critical support in diagnostics, anesthesia, surgery, and ICU monitoring.
- Client care and support staff who ensure patients and their families are cared for at every step.
Together, this team operates as one—sharing knowledge, expertise, and their love of animals across every department and every shift.
Recognizing Veterinary Teams Everywhere
This World Veterinary Day, we celebrate the teams—here at BBVSH and across the globe—who dedicate their lives to improving the health and wellbeing of animals. Whether in surgery, the ICU, recovery, or the exam room, it takes all of us working together to provide our patients with the care they need to get them back home enjoying the moments that mean the most to them and their families.
