Dr. Elizabeth (“Liz”) Meiman is a Neurologist on the BBVSH team and looks forward to helping dogs & cats afflicted by neurologic conditions in the greater Vancouver area. She grew up in Connecticut and attended university there before starting her veterinary education that took her through periods living in the Midwest and east coast. Her focus in Neurology began with a Neurology Specialty Internship at Red Bank Veterinary Hospital. She then went on to the University of Missouri for a research internship in which she assisted with research studies examining novel treatment strategies for neurodegenerative diseases including ceroid neurolipofuscinoses (CLN) and degenerative myelopathy (DM), forming a foundation for her future dedication in discussing these difficult diseases with clinical clients. She then completed a three-year residency in Neurology/Neurosurgery in the dual program between the University of Missouri & Charlotte Animal Referral & Emergency (CARE) in Charlotte, NC. This unique dual program allowed her to complete a rounded training experience in the settings of both academia and private practice, bringing strengths of a diverse surgical training caseload and mentorship from a strong variety of Neurologist practitioners. Dr. Meiman enjoys all aspects of clinical neurology, but has special interests in surgical management of intervertebral disc disease, treatment of epilepsy disorders, and the collaborative approach to neurologic oncology. She has received the ACVIM Neurosurgery Certificate of Training, denoting mastery in standard neurosurgical procedures and a commitment to proficiency in more advanced neurosurgical procedures.
Dr. Meiman is thrilled to be situated in BC and able to indulge her love of hiking, cycling, rock climbing, and gardening when outside of work. She is an avid basketball fan and closely follows her beloved UConn Huskies and the WNBA. She has one adorable furry companion of her own, a chatty tortoiseshell cat named Bertie Bott.
