We are strictly focused on emergency and specialty veterinary care for the exceptional circumstances, not issues related to general health and wellness; that’s your business. The long-term relationship with the client is also yours. We promise to take good care of your clients while in our care and then pass them back to you.

We are here to give you information. Part of the Boundary Bay ethos is to be available and accessible to our community of referring veterinarians. If you have a challenging case, we invite you to reach out to our specialists who are willing to get on the phone and consult with you to determine treatment options and prognosis. We’ll support you with information that you can provide to your clients so they can make an informed choice about a referral. You can also count on us to help you figure out whether to refer a patient for specialty care.

Lastly, a word on communication: If you need to book a referral, send us a direct transfer, send us an urgent recheck, get an update on a case, you will be able to reach BBVSH staff 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. No pretense, no barriers, no delays.

WE’LL SEE YOUR CLIENT ASAP (AND THEY’LL GET AROUND THE CLOCK CARE)

Moments matter in veterinary healthcare. We’re open 24 / 7 / 365 for emergencies and there is a veterinarian on the premises at all times. We also have multiple criticalists on staff and on-call to handle the most challenging life-and-death cases. We are committed to getting patients in for specialty appointments ASAP. We have specialists on staff and on-call in neurology, oncology, and internal medicine; appointments are generally available Monday-Friday. We offer surgery appointments (elective and non-elective surgeries, as well as direct transfers for urgent surgeries) by board-certified surgeons 7 days per week.

Rigorously trained during competitive residency programs, our board-certified Specialists have years of specialized experience. They’ve performed hundreds to thousands of specialized surgeries from knee surgery to heart surgery. They’ve improved duration and quality of life for cancer patients. They’ve brought many patients back from the brink. It’s this kind of specialized experience and real-world repetition that can make all the difference in the outcome for the patient. A board-certified specialist customizes and monitors their patient’s treatment plan even when the specialist is not in the hospital.

Boundary Bay is locally owned by Dr. Geoffrey Hutchinson and Dr. Sarah Charney and we’re completely independent of any corporate restrictions. The vision of Boundary Bay’s ownership is to finely calibrate our entire business to serve you with expertise and promptness. We’ve also been in your shoes before and understand that there’s a certain level of vulnerability that comes with seeking specialty assistance. Our founding ethos is to be responsive and approachable to our community of referring Veterinarians in such a way that deep trust develops.
