To our referring partner veterinarians, my commitment is to ensure smooth case transfer and continuity of care for our mutual patients regardless of the time of day or night throughout the year.
To pet owners, my commitment is to treat you and your pets with the same care, attention to detail, and honesty that I would provide to my own loved ones and pets.
Dr. Emma Derocher was born in Norway and spent her early years developing her love for animals thanks to the local wildlife, her family dog, and friends’ cats. She moved to Alberta in elementary school and, once she was old enough, expanded her love for animals by volunteering at veterinary clinics, the SPCA, and a therapeutic horseback riding program for children.
Ever since finding out what a veterinarian was when she was a small child, she knew she wanted to become one and attended the Western College of Veterinary Medicine to fulfill her dream. After graduating in 2021, Dr. Derocher spent a brief period of time working in general practice and, through working after hours on call, realized that her passion lay in emergency medicine and helping patients and their families through some of their toughest hours. She worked at an emergency hospital on Vancouver Island for several years before joining the BBVSH team.
At home, Dr. Derocher and her partner have four pets – two cats and two dogs, all named after food (Almond, Wagyu, Sprout, and Scallop). She enjoys getting out into nature with her dogs, kayaking, cuddling her cats, and baking.
