BIO

Dr. Erika Pugh is a veterinary cardiologist at Boundary Bay Veterinary Specialty Hospital. She is originally from New Brunswick. She attended veterinary school at the Atlantic Veterinary College in Prince Edward Island. After completing veterinary school, she moved to Guelph, Ontario where she completed a rotating internship at the Ontario Veterinary College. She then completed a cardiology specialty internship in Mississauga, Ontario at the Mississauga Oakville Veterinary Emergency Hospital. Dr. Pugh then moved to Denver, Colorado to complete a cardiology residency. After completing her residency, she decided to move back to Canada and is excited to join the team at Boundary Bay Veterinary Specialty Hospital.

Erika enjoys all aspects of cardiology but has a special interest in interventional procedures as well as client communication. Her passion for client communication stems from her own experience of owning a pet with severe heart disease. She understands how scary and overwhelming it can be to have a pet diagnosed with heart disease and wants to ensure that her clients have a good understanding of their pet’s heart disease and feel supported every step of the way.

Outside of work, Erika enjoys hiking, reading, and gardening. She spends most of her free time with her pug, Pebbles.
