Dr. Thatcher grew up in Ontario and spent most of her free time riding horses and working in veterinary clinics. She has always had a passion for animals and that is what motivated her to attend the Ontario Veterinary College where she completed her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2012. She was awarded the OVC Alumni Association Proficiency prize, which acknowledges the student with the highest class standing for that year. Upon graduation Dr. Thatcher practiced emergency medicine initially in Kelowna, then Toronto and most recently Vancouver. During that time she has worked along side many specialists in surgery, internal medicine and oncology, gaining valuable insight and knowledge. Dr. Thatcher has a particular interest in emergency and critical care medicine because she feels as though she can really make a difference in the pet’s life. Dr. Thatcher shares her home with her partner Jason and their Shar Pei named Deeks and Dutch Warmblood horse named Paul. She is a competitive dressage rider but also enjoys mountain biking and hiking the local North Shore and Fraser Valley trails.
