BIO

Dr. Peter Gordon received his doctorate of veterinary medicine in 2000 from the Ontario Veterinary College at the University of Guelph, Ontario, Canada. Following graduation, Dr. Gordon completed a one year rotating small animal internship in medicine and surgery with the VCA Berwyn and VCA Franklin Park Animal Hospitals in Chicago, IL.

In 2001, Dr. Gordon accepted a position with the Small Animal Surgery department at the University of Missouri-Columbia to complete a three year Neurology/Neurosurgery residency program. During his time in Missouri, Dr. Gordon’s research interests examined new methods for tumor identification during intracranial surgery as well as the development of a new method for skull reconstruction in veterinary patients. Upon the conclusion of his residency, Dr. Gordon was awarded the Redhage Memorial Resident of the Year.

In 2004, he achieved his board certification in the subspecialty of Neurology and became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine. That same year, Dr. Gordon also started Pima County’s first and only Veterinary Neurology/Neurosurgery service at a multi-specialty center in Tucson Arizona where he served as the head of the Neurology department for 10 years. During his tenure, Dr. Gordon toured globally and was invited to lecture at several international assemblies including veterinary conferences in Mexico, Thailand, the Philippines, Fiji, Honduras, Bonaire, and Belize.

Now, with his return to Canada in 2014, Dr. Gordon has joined the Boundary Bay Veterinary Specialty Hospital to continue his mission by providing complete neurological examinations and consultations to diagnose and manage numerous neurological disorders including seizure activity, epilepsy, weakness, spinal pain, balance disorders, head trauma, and cancer of the nervous system.

Dr. Gordon also has advanced training in intracranial and spinal neurosurgical techniques for the correction of intervertebral disc disease (slipped disc), cervical vertebral instability (Wobbler’s syndrome), spinal cord trauma/fracture, Chiari malformation, muscle/nerve biopsy, and brain tumor resection.

Veterinary neurology referrals are accepted at BBVSH in Surrey anytime, day or night.
