Our journey to the new hospital

It took over two years to plan, design, build and move into our new, custom-built hospital in Surrey.

We recorded this journey. Here’s our story.

In late 2020, owners Dr. Sarah Charney and Dr. Geoffrey Hutchinson saw that their thriving business in Langley, B.C. was going to quickly outgrow it’s location. They made the decision to start the long process of creating a newer, bigger and custom-built hospital where they could provide greater access and more specialty services to a wider base of clients in the Vancouver mainland.

Creating a made-to-fit hospital in Surrey, B.C. meant they could design the space they needed to offer their broad range of veterinary specialty services, providing specialized diagnostics and care for the most complex and difficult medical and surgical problems. They also upgraded their certified VECCS Level 1 emergency department with a dedicated triage area, more kennels, multiple isolation wards, and more space to be able to handle all emergencies, specializing in complex cases and severe trauma.

The new location at 10436 173rd Street, Surrey, (just off highway #17 (SFPR), and minutes from highway #1) meant they would be accessible to even more pet families and referring vet clinics who needed their care, and fulfilled their mission to provide more precious moments for more pets and their families.

With the addition of board-specialists and emergency room doctors, equipment and services, we needed more room at our Langley hospital. We’re moving to give our hard-working staff more elbow room to deliver the standard of care we aim to deliver.
