Periodontal disease (gum disease), is very common in pets and can cause bad breath, oral pain, behavioral changes like reduced appetite, and may affect a pet’s kidneys, liver and heart.
Our board-certified veterinary dental specialist is trained to diagnose and treat both genetic and acquired dental problems. Using specialized diagnostics, including dental radiology, laboratory evaluations, and advanced imaging like CT scans, we can quickly and accurately diagnose oral health issues and related medical problems before planning treatment.
BBVSH also offers a wide range of specialized dental treatment options, including surgical solutions, ensuring that your pet receives the care they need for optimal oral health. Our advanced capabilities mean we can address even complex dental problems effectively.
Dr. Judy Rochette, our current board-certified veterinary dentist, will be retiring from BBVSH at the end of March, 2026.
Dr. Rochette has had a long and distinguished career in veterinary dentistry and oral surgery, dedicating many years to advancing patient care and supporting the veterinary community. We thank Dr. Rochette for her contributions to the profession and wish her all the best in her future endeavours.
Our hospital remains committed to maintaining the high level of specialty care you expect from us. We are actively recruiting a board-certified veterinary dentist to continue providing dedicated dental services.
In the interim, cases requiring oral surgery may still be referred to us for surgical consultation and assessment. Our surgical team is available to evaluate these cases and determine appropriate treatment options.

We are here to take good care of your pet and we’re committed to establishing trust and mutual respect with our clients, however, please know that abusive language, aggressive behaviour, and lack of respect toward any of our staff members will not be tolerated.
We prioritize care based on severity, ensuring that the most critically ill patients receive attention first. Upon arrival, your pet will undergo a thorough triage assessment to determine the level of urgency. This process allows us to quickly identify and treat potentially life-threatening conditions.
Emergency Services aim to diagnose and support your pet during their illness or crisis; however, please recognize that you are paying for the services rendered, not the results achieved. The fees cover time, expertise, and resources dedicated to your pet’s care, regardless of outcome.
Walk-ins are welcome; no appointment is required.
If you are able, call ahead and let us know you are coming.
